Chocolate Pretzel Trees (Printable)

Salty pretzel rods coated in creamy chocolate and topped with colorful sprinkles for a festive holiday treat.

# What's Needed:

→ Base

01 - 18 salted pretzel rods

→ Coating

02 - 7 oz semisweet or milk chocolate, chopped
03 - 3.5 oz white chocolate, chopped (optional, for decoration)

→ Decorations

04 - 2 tbsp assorted sprinkles or colored sugar
05 - Mini candy stars or pearls (optional, for tree toppers)

# How to Make It:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
02 - Melt the semisweet or milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over simmering water (double boiler) or in the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring until smooth and fully liquefied.
03 - Dip approximately two-thirds of each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, using a spoon to help coat evenly if needed. Swirl gently to create tree-like branch patterns, then tap off any excess chocolate.
04 - Place the chocolate-dipped pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them adequately apart to prevent touching during setting.
05 - While the chocolate remains wet, drizzle with melted white chocolate in zigzag patterns (if using), then immediately sprinkle with assorted sprinkles and position a candy star or pearl atop each tree.
06 - Allow the trees to set at room temperature for approximately 20 minutes, or refrigerate for 10 minutes until the chocolate completely hardens.
07 - Once fully set, carefully remove from parchment paper. Serve immediately or package individually in cellophane bags for gifts.

# Tips for Success:

01 -
  • The salty pretzel cuts through the sweet chocolate like a flavor revelation
  • Makes 18 trees in under 30 minutes, leaving plenty of time for licking the spoon
02 -
  • Even a tiny drop of water in your melting chocolate will ruin it completely, so keep your workspace absolutely dry
  • Tap the dipped pretzels gently against the bowl edge to remove excess chocolate, or you will end up with puddles instead of trees
03 -
  • Hold the dipped pretzel over the sheet for a few seconds to catch any drips before placing it down
  • If your chocolate seizes, whisk in a teaspoon of coconut oil to bring it back to life
