Red White and Blue Ice (Printable)

Vibrant red, white and blue ice cubes with berries, coconut and natural juices—ideal for festive summer beverages.

# What's Needed:

→ Fruit

01 - 1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup coconut meat, fresh, or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water
05 - 1 cup natural blueberry juice
06 - 1 cup natural strawberry juice or cranberry juice

# How to Make It:

01 - Thoroughly rinse blueberries and strawberries. Hull and chop strawberries, and portion both coconut meat and other fruit components as needed.
02 - Add blueberries into the bottom third of each compartment in an ice cube tray. Pour enough blueberry juice to just cover the blueberries, then freeze until solid, approximately 1 hour.
03 - Place coconut meat or a sprinkle of shredded coconut onto the frozen blue layer in each compartment. Carefully pour coconut water to reach two-thirds full, then freeze again until firm, about 1 hour.
04 - Distribute chopped strawberries atop the white layer and fill each compartment to the top with strawberry juice or cranberry juice. Freeze until all layers are completely solid, approximately 2 additional hours.
05 - Remove the layered ice cubes from the tray and use to chill lemonade, sparkling water, or cocktails for a colorful, festive effect.

# Tips for Success:

01 -
  • Your summer drinks get a playful upgrade that always sparks conversation
  • You can prep them ahead and everyone gets a little surprise in every glass
02 -
  • If you're too impatient between layers, they'll blur together—speed kills the stripes
  • Letting some cubes freeze unevenly can actually make a lovely marbled effect that gets compliments
03 -
  • Let the cubes sit at room temp for 2-3 minutes if they're stubborn—don't force them
  • Use clear juices for the brightest colors, and avoid anything with added pulp which muddies the effect
